How to Prepare Your First Clothing Sourcing Inquiry
From reference photos to quantities, put together a clear brief that helps your supplier understand your collection.
Back to resource hub01
Start with the product
Share reference photographs or a tech pack, the intended customer and the market you sell into. Identify the features you want to keep and those you want to change. A product reference is a starting point for discussion, rather than confirmation that an identical style is available.
02
Make your requirements specific
Include your preferred composition, fabric weight, colors, size range and estimated quantity per style and color. Add your label, packaging and delivery requirements. If a detail is still open, say so; it can be reviewed during development.
03
Agree the next step
Ask which details are needed for an initial quotation and sample discussion. MOQ, sample charges, bulk pricing and timing depend on the actual brief and should be confirmed in writing before ordering.
